Paris – A Glimpse into the Soul of the City

Paris, often called the city of love and photography, has always been a significant muse for my work. My journey with city photography began in Paris and has since expanded to other beautiful cities like Budapest and Venice.

Paris, one of the most visited cities globally, has a rich cultural backdrop and is famously linked to the history of photography, thanks to Daguerre. It’s a city that continues to captivate photographers around the world. In this collection, I share black and white images that highlight Paris’s timeless charm, from its noir past to its vibrant present.

What keeps drawing me back to Paris year after year is the city’s enchanting connection to photography. Every visit presents a new challenge and offers a diverse array of subjects that are an endless source of inspiration.

If you stroll through Trocadéro, explore the Centre Pompidou museum, or see an elegant girl riding beside a vintage car near Notre Dame, you’ll find Paris’s charm at every corner. The city’s allure is not easy to define because it varies for everyone. For me, it’s the enduring atmosphere of the 1920s and 1930s that fascinates me the most. This era’s spirit lingers in every part of the city and was wonderfully captured in Woody Allen’s ‘Midnight in Paris.’

Imagine the cultural explosion of the post-WWI period, spanning music, literature, photography, cinema, and more. I often daydream about being in a 1920s café, listening to Cole Porter or chatting with Ernest Hemingway about his adventures and dreams.

You’ll find rich scenes such as a rainy night on Rue de Rivoli with the Louvre in the backdrop, or a man walking along the Seine in front of Notre Dame. The city’s artistic heartbeat is impossible to ignore. As a photographer, I am deeply inspired by the Hungarian artist Brassaï, who was also drawn to the Parisian life and captured it through his lens.

Paris isn’t a city for the hurried; it’s for dreamers. Despite knowing numerous people, only a couple remain indifferent to this captivating city. Paris, with its myriad depictions and stories, stands unparalleled. For photography enthusiasts and Paris lovers, the city’s magic is evident. Paris thrives on dreams and passion, creating irreplaceable moments that feel timeless.

In autumn, the allure of Paris amplifies. Spots like the Arc de Triomphe at Champs-Élysées and the cozy cafes on Rue de Rivoli become especially inviting. Visiting the Opera Garnier is also an essential experience.

My love for Paris is shared by many renowned photographers who have captured its essence: Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Ernst Haas, and many others. Every time I photograph Paris, my goal is to show you its passionate, unique, and never-ending feast of culture and beauty.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2010 I turned my focus to travel photography, capturing the freedom and diversity of over 30 countries. My work emphasizes natural light, rain, silhouettes, high contrasts, and cold nights, often inspired by legends like Brassaï and Robert Capa.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of showcasing my work at exhibitions in London, Bologna, Madrid, Paris, and beyond. My journey as a mostly self-taught artist began with a brief study period at Focus Photography and has led to numerous awards and accolades. I continually share my travel experiences and insights on photography through my blog.

Paris, to me, is a city that endlessly fascinates and inspires, much like a feast that never ends.
